Indy Evolution Division
1. BODY:
A. You must use the official 2011 Indy Evolution Body only.
B. Body can be lightly sanded only. Painting or Staining is allowed.
C. No reduction of wood (other than light sanding) or body modifications are allowed.
D. Front Dominant Wheel area may be reduced by no more than 1/16″.
E. All bodies will be cut with weight pockets. You must use the provided weight pockets.
F. The Official body/wheels/axles for this Division are available for $7 plus shipping by contacting Evolution.
2. CAR SPECS:
A. Width – Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches.
B. Length – Not to exceed 7 inches.
C. Weight – Not to exceed 5.0 ounces on scale accurate to 1/10 ounce.
D. Height- Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches.
E. Center Rail Width Clearance – No less than 1 3/4 inches minimum.
F. Bottom Clearance – Car must be built to clear the track center rail. The height of the center rail on the track is 1/4″ tall.
G. The car design may NOT be enhanced by the addition of other stable materials such as plastic, wood or metal. Any additions to the body other than what is provided in the kit are PROHIBITED. No part of the car may be taped.
H. No part of the car body, wheels or attachments may protrude in front of the starting peg.
I. Wheelbase- must remain as it comes in the Indy Evolution kit (4 3/8 inches). The wheelbase cannot be altered. The distance between the rear axle holes/slot and the front of the car shall not exceed 6 1/8″, and the front axle holes/slot must be located 4 3/8″ in front of the rear axle holes/slot. You cannot cut off the rear or front of the block and relocate it to the opposite ends.
3. The following items are PROHIBITED:
A. Springs.
B. Starting devices or propellants.
C. Electronic or lighting devices that interfere with the race electronics.
D. Liquid lubricants, wet paint, oil, sticky substance, or powders of any kind (other than axle lubrication)
E. Glass or excessively fragile parts.
F. Bearings, washers, bushings, or inserts.
G. Loose objects on or in car.
H. Magnets.
I. No part of any car, or attachment to any car, that is metal, pointed, sharp, and/or jagged may be capable of contacting any part of the track.
8. There must be at least 4 wheels on the car, however, it is not required that all 4 wheels make contact with the track surface.
4. WHEELS:
A. The only wheels allowed for use in the Indy Evolution Division are the Pinecar wheels provided with the kit. Wheels may be polished. Tread surface must be flat and parallel to the wheel bore. You may add material (glue, fingernail polish, tape) to the inside of the wheel to aid in balancing, but no material may be removed.
B. Wheel Bore treatments such as polishing is allowed. Wheel bores may not be filled and re-drilled to achieve better fit with the axle.
C. The following wheel modifications are PROHIBITED:
1. Rounding of wheel edges.
2. Grooving, H-cutting or V-cutting.
3. Altering of wheel profile.
4. Narrowing the tread surface.
5. Drilling sidewalls.
6. Hollowing, sanding, or otherwise removing or modifying plastic material from the wheel.
7. Filling of any wheel surface with any type of material
5. AXLES:
A. Awana Axles are the only allowed axle in the Indy Evolution Division. Polishing and/or modifications are allowed as long as overall diameter is not reduced below .084. Grooves are allowed, the depth of the groove(s) is not limited so long as the journal portion of the axle (the part the wheel rides on) is no less than the stated minimum diameter.
B. Axles must not be connected to any device that mechanically alters rotation and spin.
C. Axles must be mounted into the wood sections of car.
6. Graphite is the ONLY APPROVED LUBRICANT. All other lubricants are PROHIBITED.
7. Cars may be reclassified or disqualified if they are determined by the race officials to not meet these requirements.
